Cindy Phan

Maker of things

Cindy Phan is a ceramicist, quilter, and maker of all the things. She makes each piece by hand in Berkeley, CA alongside her trusty dog Ori, who likes to nap at her feet while she's working.

Cindy is focused on making functional pieces inspired by the beauty and imperfections of nature, finding a balance between the two. She owns a pair of asymmetrical glasses and when asked why the designer did this, was given the answer way "The face isn't symmetrical, so glasses shouldn't be either." This embodies her approach to making - beauty exists in all forms, symmetrical or not. Every piece she makes is handmade, with an eye towards letting things flow rather than focus on perfection.

Frequently asked questions

Tell me about your ceramics

Each piece is made lovingly by hand, which means no two pieces are the same but are made with lots of love and care. Each ceramic piece is made with Cone 5 Stoneware or Porcelain.

How do I care for your ceramics?

Each piece is extremely sturdy, but also not indestructible. They are microwave and dishwasher safe.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only provide U.S. shipping through the site. However, if you are interested in some pieces, please send me an email at studiocindyphan@gmail.com to discuss international shipping options.

Why is shipping not free?

I am a one-person shop making custom homemade pieces. Shipping isn't cheap, it includes not only mail carrier cost to pay for the labor and time people put in to move mail but also packing materials. Ceramics are heavy and fragile, so you need a lot of packing materials to make sure nothing breaks. Large companies are able to absorb that cost to provide free shipping. Unfortunately, I'm a tiny little business and unable to. The average cost of shipping is about $20, so I charge a little while absorbing a lot.

How long does it take to ship?

Orders are shipped out within 1-2 weeks of the order, then can take up to 1 week depending on the mailing service and their mail traffic. We will follow up with a tracking number once your item is shipping.

Do you accept returns?

All sales are final. However, if your piece was damaged, see below.

My piece was damanged during shipping, what do I do?

I do my best to carefully wrap each piece for shipping, but life happens. If anything happens, please email studiocindyphan@gmail.com and we will work with you to resolve the issue.
